The Sisters Local Option was renewed with overwhelming support from voters in our community. Continuing a long tradition, Sisters residents have again supported our schools with the Local Option. The Sisters Local Option pays for over 9% of our schools’ operational costs.
The revenue from the Sisters Local Option has allowed Sisters to keep class sizes manageable, maintain a full school year, and retain courses in outdoor education, art, music, technology, shop, foreign language and P.E. It helps us keep great teachers, sports programs and co-curriculars many schools have been forced to cut. It funds new textbooks, teacher salaries and electives.
Since it was first approved by Sisters voters in 2000, the Local Option has raised more than $10 million to keep our schools strong.
Our staff and students thank you, the voters, for your continued support.
