Clay Warburton’s class learns to act by pretending to be a ballerina family.

Third and fourth graders at Sisters Elementary School were treated to a two-week acting program through the Sisters Folk Festival’s Artist in Residence Program funded by the Oregon Community Foundation.

Professional acting coach Lisa Elrod taught students how to perform by using acting games and activities. Students performed a variety of sketches and story tableaus.

“The experience gave students a greater sense of self-confidence,” said teacher Clay Warburton, whose class participated in the program. “They built relationships with each other and learned how to take positive risks.”
